Q&A

  • My original paintings are scanned, color corrected, and reproduced using a special Giclée printer. Giclée prints have the highest resolution and sharpest detail, with a full-color spectrum that captures every shade of the original artwork. Furthermore, they will not yellow or fade overtime.

I have a close relationship with my printshop. We work hard to get the perfect scan, so that prints come out looking identical to the original!

  • Paper prints typically need to be framed with a mat and protected by glass.

Canvas prints are wrapped around 2in thick stretcher bars and have no need for glass or framing. They come with a wire ready to hang!

  • Absolutely! I hand sign all prints before shipping them out.

  • Please allow one week to make all giclée prints. You will receive an email notifying you when your print has shipped, along with a tracking number. Please email me if you would like something to be rushed. My printshop is very busy but they will do their best!

  • You can wash your yoga mat in a front load washing machine, with a hose, or by hand with cold water. Don’t worry, the colors won’t fade or bleed! Let it air dry afterward.

  • Unfortunately I do not. Maybe someday!

  • If you are interested in an original, please contact me or one of the galleries that represent my work. For commissions, please give me as much advanced notice as you can. I have at least ten commissions in the queue at all times.

  • I paint solely with oils. I love this medium for its vibrancy and also because its thickness gives me a lot of control. In other areas of my life, I don’t have that same control. But when I paint, I feel like the canvas can be anything I want it to be.

  • It depends on size and detail, but I can finish most paintings in 4-6 days. When I used to paint part-time, it took me a month! Now I paint faster, with more experience and willingness to let go of perfectionism.

  • In the summer between high school and college, I experienced anxiety and depression from a fear of the unknown. So I went on a 30-day mountaineering course in Alaska with the National Outdoor Leadership School. And it changed my mindset completely. I felt first-hand the effects that being out in the wilderness for extended periods of time had on my well-being. Away from technology, social media, and the business of every day life, I learned how to connect with myself and others on a deeper level.

When I studied and worked in the outdoor industry, I felt that women were underrepresented. I hope my paintings inspire more ladies to get outside and experience the power of adventure!

  • No, I am largely self-taught. I spent my whole life being creative, from making movies and writing to drawing and painting. But I didn’t take a painting class until my last year of college. I have a bachelors degree in Wilderness Therapy and a master’s in Outdoor Education. So my background is in the things that I paint about.

  • I love the quote “You don’t have to be amazing to start, you just have to start to be amazing.” The hardest part of every painting, for me, is at the very beginning. Getting that initial sketch down takes the most willpower. So my advice is to just take that first step, and then another. Nothing happened overnight for me. It feels like lots of little things added up through hard work and dedication. And believing in myself. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will.

  • Yes, I sell my cards and stickers through various shops. If you are a shop owner, I’d love to discuss working with you on a wholesale basis. Or if you know of a shop that would be a good fit, don’t hesitate to reach out!

I look forward to hearing from you!
